PORTFOLIO > TIN ROOF SHIPPING CONTAINER BARS AT COMERICA PARK

situation

In 2002, the first Tin Roof bar opened near Nashville’s famed Music Row to give local musicians a place to hang out and play. By mixing tasty food, drinks, and a fun, eclectic vibe, the company’s been busy ever since expanding the Tin Roof experience to major music cities across America. That includes, most recently, an iconic Motown location next to Detroit’s Comerica Park. Regional managers looked to Britten’s BoxPop® team to transform their empty parking lot into an eclectic beer garden.

solution

Starting with two separate 20’ long shipping containers, BoxPop® engineers joined the units together using gasketing and flashing. Further modification of the “Double 20” container bar included the addition of 16’ flip-up door awnings and sleek countertops to each side for easy serving. After painting the outside in Tin Roof’s unique, vibrant blue, the crew installed one center bar with Kegerator refrigerators and taps. Stainless steel shelving units, sinks, water tanks, and electrical panels functionalized the beer garden centerpiece.

impact

Delivered in time for their 4th of July concert and the restart of Detroit Tiger baseball, Tin Roof’s parking lot bar is set to become the “social-distancing” destination this year. The popup delivers an open-air venue for live music lovers leery about enclosed spaces while giving Tin Roof owners the ability to serve more customers outside, which helps make up for lost revenue caused by new indoor seating/spacing regulations. The Britten team loves developing products that revamp businesses like Tin Roof and foster the enduring spirit of America.
